Nigerian Vice President Kashim Shettima has emphasized the significant impact that N8,000 can have on the lives of enterprising youth and small business owners in the country.
Speaking at a recent event, Shettima pointed out that with the right mindset and dedication, even a modest amount of N8,000 can be enough to start a small business that could eventually lead to financial independence.
“There are small businesses like shoe shining, selling data and phone cards, and even starting a small touch light business. With N8,000, one can begin, and with God’s blessing, it can grow into something substantial within a year,” Shettima stated.
He added that those who successfully utilize this small capital could eventually move away from begging and become self-reliant.
Shettima also spoke about the women who engage in small-scale businesses such as making local delicacies like Dan Saida Daddawa, Maggi, Gulisuwa, and Tuwon Madara.
He noted that these businesses often start with less than N8,000 in capital, yet they provide a sustainable livelihood for many. “Our mothers in the house who are involved in these trades do not beg because they manage their businesses wisely. Imagine if they are supported with N8,000; their lives can change by the grace of God,” he remarked.
The Vice President’s comments have sparked discussions on the importance of financial support and entrepreneurship in reducing poverty and fostering economic growth in Nigeria.
