Nasarawa State Police Command has successfully apprehended two notorious “One Chance” armed robbers involved in a shocking incident where they threw a female passenger out of a moving vehicle after robbing her of her valuables.
The arrest took place in the Karu Local Government Area on August 13, 2024.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Ramhan Nansel, disclosed in a press statement released in Lafia on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, that the suspects were caught after a coordinated effort by the police.
According to the statement, the criminals, identified as John Iorfa (29) and James Agbo (37), both from Makurdi, Benue State, were using a 1994 model Toyota Corolla with registration number Benue MKD 77 TF to carry out their illegal activities.
The incident occurred when the robbers picked up an unsuspecting female passenger from New Nyanya, heading towards Area 1, Abuja. During the journey, they robbed her of her handbag, iPhone, and other valuables before throwing her out of the moving vehicle.
Upon receiving information about the incident, police operatives attached to the New Karu Area Command, with the assistance of concerned citizens, gave the suspects a hot chase.
The pursuit led to the interception of the robbers’ vehicle, and both suspects were arrested on the spot. The stolen items were also recovered during the operation.
DSP Nansel noted that the suspects have made useful statements to the police, and efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the criminal syndicate.
The police have assured the public of their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents in the state, urging citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
