A nursing mother in Ogun State has died after being allegedly shot by her neighbor over a dispute concerning a solar light debt.
Dauda Jolaosho, her husband, claimed that Saheed Olawale, a timber operator and his neighbor, shot him and his wife.
Jolaosho, a 44-year-old fish farmer, survived with a gunshot wound to his arm, while his wife died instantly.
The incident took place on April 24, 2024, following a quarrel that began when the sellers of the solar lights, which they had bought in March 2023, came to collect the remaining balance.
Olawale, who had stopped making payments, argued with Jolaosho when he discovered his solar light had been taken.
The situation escalated the next morning when Olawale returned, armed with a local gun, and shot Jolaosho and his wife.
The matter was reported to the Kemta police station in Abeokuta and later moved to the Ogun State police command.
Jolaosho, who is now demanding justice, has called on the Ogun State government and the public to support the care of his five children.
CSP Wale Famobuwa, the Divisional Police Officer of Kemta, confirmed the details of the incident, stating that Olawale, who remains at large, will be brought to justice.
