American rapper Nicki Minaj has revealed the inspiration behind her collaboration with Afrobeats superstar Davido on the track “If It’s Okay.”
In a conversation with fans on X (formerly Twitter), Nicki explained that she specifically invited Davido to join the project to capture an authentic Afrobeats sound.
She praised his exceptional songwriting and melodic skills, describing him as pivotal to the song’s success.

“If It’s Okay” is featured on the special 10th-anniversary edition of Nicki Minaj’s iconic album The Pinkprint, which includes four new tracks.
The re-release highlights collaborations with top artists like Swae Lee, David Guetta, Davido, and the late Juice WRLD.
This marks Nicki and Davido’s second musical partnership, following their 2020 hit “Holy Ground” from Davido’s album A Better Time.
Their latest collaboration underscores the growing influence of Afrobeats in global pop culture.
