Actress Regina Daniels recently took to Instagram to address criticisms following her advice to Nigerian youths amid the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests.
In her video, Daniels emphasized that Nigeria’s issues cannot be resolved in a day or by a single individual, urging for a collective and sustained effort for change.
Daniels criticized residents of Kano for waving the Russian flag during the protests, suggesting such actions are misguided.
She expressed concern that events in the north could impact the entire country, highlighting the interconnectedness of Nigeria’s regions.
“Mind you, whatever happens in the north can get to you,” Daniels warned. She acknowledged her privileged position but stressed that it does not prevent her from understanding the struggles of everyday Nigerians. “The fact remains that I am privileged and opportuned. But that doesn’t stop me from understanding that my nannies need to be paid extra or that my gateman or cooks need to be well catered for because of insecurity and extra bills in Nigeria,” she stated.
Daniels made it clear that her comments were not in defense of the government, nor were they an attempt to gain public favor. Instead, she aimed to highlight the reality that meaningful change requires time and collective effort. “The earlier we all realize that this protest is turning into something else, the better for us all,” she concluded.
Her remarks have sparked a mix of reactions online, with some supporting her call for a pragmatic approach to change, while others remain critical of her stance.
