A Nigerian businesswoman, Mabel Henry, recently shared a disturbing story on her Facebook page involving a friend and his tumultuous relationship with a Gen Z woman.
The woman, whose identity was not disclosed, allegedly dumped her boyfriend for a man she had previously accused of rape, an allegation that later proved to be false.
Mabel recounted the incident on Tuesday, August 20, describing how her friend, deeply in love, had gone to great lengths to support his girlfriend. He even arranged for her to serve her mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) year in Kaduna, where he had relocated for work.
Despite his efforts, the relationship was fraught with issues, including the girlfriend’s apparent lack of gratitude and frequent complaints.
The situation took a darker turn when the girlfriend disappeared for a weekend, claiming her phone had fallen into water and that she had been hanging out with friends.
Upon her return, her boyfriend discovered a suspicious text message on her phone, leading to a confrontation. The girlfriend initially claimed that the man she was with had raped her, but further investigation revealed that this was a lie.
Despite the revelation, the boyfriend forgave her, only for her to cheat on him again and eventually leave him for the man she had falsely accused of rape.
In her post, Mabel expressed outrage over the situation, particularly the false rape accusation, stating, “People who make false rape allegations should also be punished honestly. They make it harder for real rape victims to be believed and also get justice.”
The story has sparked significant discussion on social media, with many expressing concern over the impact of false allegations on real victims and the broader implications for justice.
