A Nigerian lady, Simon Amina, who was spotted on Friday morning, August 16, holding a placard and begging for money to buy a sewing machine on the busy Aba Road, close to FMC, Umuahia, has sparked controversy after it was discovered she already owns about five sewing machines and employs a lot of workers.
Amina had claimed she needed the funds to start a sewing business, prompting sympathy from the general public.
However, a popular Nigerian TV station visited her shop, revealing that it was already well-stocked with fabrics and equipped with more than five sewing machines.
When asked why she was soliciting for additional machines despite already having several, Amina explained that the demand from her large workforce necessitated more equipment.
This revelation has not sat well with some netizens, who have labeled her actions as greedy, arguing that others in more desperate need could have benefited from the public’s generosity.
