The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has confirmed the deployment of approximately 300 trucks to the Dangote Refinery ahead of scheduled petrol loading on Sunday, September 15, 2024.
In a statement released on Saturday by the company’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, NNPC disclosed that the trucks have already arrived at the refinery’s fuel loading gantry in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos.
“NNPC Ltd. trucks are arriving at the Dangote Refinery in preparation for the scheduled petrol loading on Sunday. By the end of today, at least 300 trucks will be stationed at the refinery’s fuel loading gantry,” Soneye said via X (formerly Twitter).
The move comes after Dangote Group Chairman, Aliko Dangote, announced last week that the refinery had commenced fuel production, marking a significant step in Nigeria’s effort to reduce fuel imports and increase local production.
NNPC confirmed that trucks have been mobilized for the loading process, with over 100 trucks already deployed and many more expected to arrive by Saturday evening.
This development signals the start of fuel distribution from the Dangote Refinery, expected to play a crucial role in stabilizing Nigeria’s fuel supply.
