French authorities have mandated Omar bin Laden, son of the late Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, to exit the country following the discovery of social media posts advocating terrorism.
The order was announced by France’s new Interior Minister, Bruno Retailleau, who emphasized that this decision was made in the interest of national security.
Omar, 43, was born in Saudi Arabia and has resided in various countries, including Sudan and Afghanistan.
He distanced himself from his father at the age of 19 and relocated to Normandy, France, in 2016.
However, recent activities on his social media, which Retailleau described as promoting terrorism, prompted a swift response from the French government.
Retailleau revealed via X (formerly Twitter) that the prefect of Orne issued the order for Omar bin Laden to leave French territory.
He added that the courts have upheld the legality of this decision, reinforcing the government’s stance on national security.
Furthermore, the Interior Minister confirmed that he has approved a ban preventing Omar from returning to France under any circumstances.
