The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, expressed optimism about the future of the country during a recent visit to the palace of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
In her remarks, she said that many Nigerians are failing to recognize what God is doing in the country, despite the visible efforts of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Speaking on the challenges facing Nigeria, Mrs. Tinubu acknowledged the economic hardship but stressed that her husband’s government is working towards securing the future of the nation.
“What is happening in the country, we are just two years into our administration, we are not the cause of the current situation. We are trying to fix and secure the future,” she said.
She added that while President Tinubu is working on stabilizing the economy, particularly after the removal of fuel subsidies, there are plans in place that will yield positive results in the coming years. “We know that subsidy has been removed, but with God on our side in the next two years, Nigeria will be greater than this,” she said.
Mrs. Tinubu also noted that foreign nations are showing renewed interest in doing business with Nigeria, emphasizing that the current administration is committed to accountability.
She urged Nigerian youths to embrace hard work and take advantage of the opportunities being created by the government.
Reflecting on the success of Lagos State, she highlighted the transformation under her husband’s leadership as an example of what can be achieved in Nigeria.
“When we started in Lagos, many doubted us, they abused us, but see the transformation in Lagos now; it is generating its money and running on its own,” she said.
She concluded with a message of hope, assuring Nigerians that the Tinubu administration would not disappoint and that Nigeria is on the path to greatness, with initiatives aimed at benefiting future generations.
Mrs. Tinubu’s remarks were delivered in Yoruba and reflected her faith that, with patience and prayer, the country would soon overcome its current challenges.
