Kano State Anti-Corruption Commission Arrests Education Officials for Illegally Selling School Furniture
The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission has apprehended five individuals, including an education secretary and a school headmaster, for their alleged involvement in the illegal dismantling and sale of school furniture at Gaidar Makada Special Primary School in the Kumbotso Local Government Area.
The arrest, which took place on Saturday, followed reports from residents who noticed suspicious activity at the school during the early hours.
Upon investigation, they discovered that school furniture, valued at over N2 million, had been dismantled and sold for a mere N250,000.
The commission is now conducting a thorough investigation into the incident, which is part of a broader issue affecting several primary schools in the state.
The suspects are currently in custody, and authorities are considering implementing new software to track school inventory and prevent similar incidents in the future.
