The Nigeria Police Force has declared a British national, identified as Andrew Wynne, also known as Andrew Povich or Drew Povey, wanted for allegedly orchestrating a plot to overthrow the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
This declaration was made public on Monday, September 2, by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi.
According to Adejobi, Wynne and his Nigerian accomplice are accused of masterminding a conspiracy to destabilize the Nigerian government through various unlawful activities.
These include the organization and funding of violent protests, spreading false information, and other acts aimed at creating chaos in the country.
“Following extensive intelligence gathering and collaboration with other security agencies, nine suspects have been apprehended. These individuals received substantial financial backing from foreign sources to execute their plan,” Adejobi stated.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Andrew Wynne, who reportedly rented a space at Labour House, Abuja, for an ‘Iva Valley Bookshop,’ also established the ‘STARS of Nations Schools’ as a cover for his subversive activities.
Documentary evidence and confessions have revealed that Wynne was deeply involved in directing, monitoring, and financing the operations aimed at overthrowing the democratically elected government of Nigeria.
The statement further disclosed that Wynne mobilized several billions of naira to his Nigerian collaborators, urging them to incite the public to violently storm police and military facilities, with the hope of triggering a bloodbath that would draw international condemnation of the Nigerian government.
The police have called on the public to provide any information that could lead to the arrest of Andrew Wynne and his accomplice, emphasizing that efforts are ongoing to dismantle the network of sleeper cells he allegedly established.
