A month after the heartbreaking death of popular Akure-based caterer, Debbie Adene, her driver has been arrested by the police for his alleged involvement in the crime.
Adene, who passed away on July 25, 2024, shortly after celebrating her 54th birthday, was found dead at her residence on Oda Road.
The Ondo State Police Command linked the incident to Adene’s driver and her 17-year-old personal assistant, Philip Emmanuel.
According to reports, the driver had been evading capture for weeks, but was finally apprehended after an intense manhunt.
Emmanuel, who had been arrested earlier, admitted to being influenced by money and gifts Adene received during her birthday celebration, which allegedly motivated the crime.
He is currently remanded at Olokuta Correctional Centre, awaiting legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The police are continuing their investigation to fully understand the motive and details of the crime.
Adene’s tragic passing has left the community in shock, as she was a well-loved figure in the Akure area, known for her catering services and community contributions.
