Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have apprehended a female suspect, Khadija Aliyu, for allegedly stealing a 7-day-old baby girl during a naming ceremony in Keffi.
The incident took place on Saturday, September 28, 2024, behind the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel.
According to Nansel, Aliyu, who had been pretending to be pregnant, sneaked into the residence while the ceremony was ongoing, took the baby who had been put to sleep, and wrapped the child in a veil before escaping.
She was later arrested by officers attached to the Keffi Division of the Police Force.
