The Nigerian Police have confirmed the arrest of one Alex, who was apprehended by hotel employees after tying up a naked woman with cello tape for alleged ritual purposes in Abuja.
The disturbing incident took place at a hotel in Wuse, Federal Capital Territory, on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.
According to witnesses, the hotel staff were alerted by the victim’s screams, which led them to forcefully break into the room.
Inside, they found the woman with her hands, legs, and neck bound with cello tape. Her cries for help were said to have saved her life, as the employees acted swiftly.
In a video circulating on social media, hotel staff can be heard expressing their shock and anger, questioning the woman’s decision to accompany a man she barely knew.
The FCT Police Command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, confirmed the arrest in a statement, revealing that Alex is an internet fraudster suspected of attempting to perform a money ritual.
Adeh also noted that the suspect was initially detained by the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), but had yet to be handed over to the police for further investigation.
“The FCT Police Command is aware of the video footage making the rounds about a lady who was criminally confined at Top View Hotel, Wuse, Abuja, by an alleged internet fraudster, allegedly for a money ritual. We await the NSCDC to hand over all parties for a diligent and discreet investigation,” Adeh stated.
As the case unfolds, authorities are working to ensure that all involved parties are brought to justice.
