A six-man, armed gang that has not been identified is accused of raping Margaret, a pregnant woman, on the farm in Nasarawa State.
Following the incident that occurred on Friday, July 12, 2024, residents of Kadiri, Keana Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, are in a state of fear and indignation, according to reports from multiple media.
The victim told how she and her spouse were working on the farm when some people who appeared to be militia members arrived.
They both bolted as soon as they saw them. But due to her health, she was unable to flee and fell to the ground.
The armed men left her after raping her several times until she was bleeding heavily and barely conscious.
After her husband helped locate her, she was rushed to the hospital for emergency care.
However, as a result of the event, there is increased tension in the region and concern for farmers’ safety given the ongoing attacks and assaults.
The community, which is mostly composed of farmers, urged the government to intervene swiftly in order to guarantee that the innocent victim receives justice.
