Tuokpe Omokri, the ex-wife of political activist and former presidential aide Reno Omokri, has publicly accused him of domestic abuse during their marriage.
The businesswoman and mother of three took to her Instagram page on Sunday, September 8, to share details of her alleged experiences of violence in their relationship.
In a heartfelt post, Tuokpe recounted the painful moments she endured, stating that no woman should tolerate abuse, no matter how rare it might seem.
“We often make excuses like wanting to maintain a complete family or staying for the sake of the children. But the truth is, your children deserve better,” she wrote.
She detailed an instance where a violent episode left her with a swollen jaw and weeks of pain. Another incident allegedly involved their daughter witnessing Tuokpe being slapped by Reno Omokri.
In perhaps the most harrowing account, she described waking up with a ruptured eardrum after a night of violence.
The final breaking point, Tuokpe revealed, was when she had to involve the police after another assault.
She ended her message by addressing Reno’s current marriage, wishing his new wife luck, as she claimed he always sought someone he could “control and intimidate.”

“No woman should ever tolerate abuse in a marriage, regardless of how infrequent it might be. We often make excuses like wanting to maintain a complete family or staying for the sake of the children. But the truth is, your children deserve better.
“After the first instance of violence, which left me with a swollen jaw and weeks of pain, I made excuses, thinking I must have provoked the anger. I even had to endure seeing my daughter witness another slap. And there was the morning I woke up to find blood on my pillow from a ruptured eardrum you caused.
“The final straw was when you assaulted me again, leading me to involve the police. Now you claim to be happily married to a woman who doesn’t “quarrel” Good luck to her, because you always wanted someone you could control and intimidate. I was never meant to be that person; I wasn’t raised to be timid.”
As at the time of filing this report, Reno Omokri is yet to respond to these allegations.
