Sean “Diddy” Combs, the rap mogul who has faced numerous accusations of assault and sex trafficking, was arrested by federal agents in Manhattan late Monday.
According to a statement from the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Damian Williams, Combs’ arrest stemmed from a sealed indictment, which is expected to be unsealed shortly.
Combs, who had reportedly relocated to New York in anticipation of these charges, was described by his lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, as “disappointed” with the prosecution.
The defense maintains that the case is an “unjust prosecution” by the US Attorney’s Office.
The arrest follows a series of civil lawsuits that portray Combs as a violent sexual predator.
These allegations gained significant media attention in late 2023 when singer Cassie, born Casandra Ventura, accused Combs of subjecting her to over a decade of abuse, including physical coercion and rape.
Though that case was settled out of court, it sparked additional lawsuits from other women.
Combs, who has denied all allegations, is accused of using his wealth and celebrity status to manipulate and harm victims.
Despite his efforts to reshape his public image as “Brother Love,” recent legal troubles suggest that his past may now overshadow his global fame.
The artist, credited for shaping East Coast hip hop and building an empire through music, fashion, and liquor ventures, is now under intense scrutiny as his career faces a potential downfall.
