Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs is set to plead not guilty to charges of racketeering and sex trafficking, according to his lawyer, ahead of his upcoming court appearance on Tuesday.
The 54-year-old rapper was arrested by federal agents on Monday after a sealed indictment was filed by the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York.
Combs will be arraigned at a Manhattan courthouse, where the indictment will be unsealed.
His lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, confirmed the charges, stating, “It’s going to be racketeering. It’s going to be sëx trafficking.
And he’s not guilty. He’s innocent of these charges.” Agnifilo emphasized that Combs is in good spirits and ready to fight the charges with determination.
The rapper has been the subject of numerous civil lawsuits, accusing him of violent sexual behavior, allegedly using drugs and alcohol to control his victims.
Combs’ properties in Miami and Los Angeles were raided by federal agents in March, signaling a mounting federal investigation.
One notable lawsuit, brought by singer Cassie (real name Casandra Ventura), accused Combs of over a decade of physical coercion, drug use, and sexual assault, including a 2018 rãpe.
Although this case was settled out of court, it triggered a wave of similar accusations, painting a dark picture of Combs’ private life.
Combs, who gained global fame as a key figure in hip hop’s rise to prominence, has long been a powerful force in the music industry, with a career spanning several decades.
