The Borno State Police Command has confirmed the death of Prof. Ruth Haruna Wazis, a former Head of the Department of Business Management at the University of Maiduguri, who tragically died in an accident at her home.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Yusuf Lawal, informed Nigerian print media that the incident happened on Sunday, June 30, 2024.
According to Lawal, Prof. Wazis was parking her car in her garage when a sudden mechanical failure caused the vehicle to accelerate unexpectedly, knocking her to the ground and crushing her chest.
He stated that she unfortunately died from her injuries before she could be taken to the hospital.
The police commissioner added that her family members transported her remains to the hospital.
