Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the President-General of the pan-Igbo socio-cultural organization Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, has passed away. He died less than two months before his 82nd birthday.
His death was confirmed by his son, Jide Iwuanyanwu, who stated that his father died on Thursday at the age of 81 following a brief illness.
Chief Iwuanyanwu was a celebrated figure among the Igbo community, with extensive business interests. He is survived by his wife, Frances Chinonyerem, and their seven children.

Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu was a prominent Nigerian businessman, politician, and philanthropist. He was from Atta in the Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State.
Throughout his career, he made significant contributions in various fields including construction, publishing, sports, and politics. He founded several companies, most notably Hardel and Enic Construction Company, which played a major role in Nigeria’s infrastructural development.
In the media industry, he made an impact as the proprietor of Champion Newspapers. In sports, he owned the football club Iwuanyanwu Nationale, now known as Heartland FC, earning respect both within Nigeria and internationally.
Politically, Iwuanyanwu was a key figure, serving in several roles including as a member of the Board of Trustees of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). His leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide reflected his dedication to the progress and unity of the Igbo people.
