Controversial social media activist Martins Otse, popularly known as “VeryDarkMan,” has been granted bail set at N2 million with strict conditions by the Chief Magistrate Court in Abuja.
The court proceedings were held on Friday, November 1, at Court 1, Chief Magistrate Court, Wuse Zone 6.
VeryDarkMan faces charges of allegedly impersonating a police officer and unauthorized use of police uniforms in a viral social media video.
In case number CR/510/2024, Commissioner of Police v.
Vincent Martins Otse, the court approved bail under stringent conditions to ensure his availability throughout the trial.
To fulfill the bail requirements, VeryDarkMan must provide two sureties who meet specific criteria.
The sureties are required to reside within the Abuja municipal area, deposit their passports with the court, and submit verifiable means of identification.
Additionally, they must depose affidavits attesting they will ensure VeryDarkMan’s appearance in court when needed.
The court further instructed that the prosecutor verify the sureties’ addresses and collect utility bills as proof of residence.
VeryDarkMan is also required to depose an affidavit affirming his commitment to attend all trial sessions.
The incident has drawn public attention to issues of impersonation and the responsibilities of social media influencers regarding legal boundaries.
