A married man narrowly escaped an untimely death after his 19-year-old side chic allegedly attempted to poison him with a deadly substance.
The suspect, identified simply as Aderonke, a 100-level student at a university in Ekiti State, reportedly laced a bottle of table water with Sniper, a potent rat poison, intending to end the man’s life.
Her plan was to take possession of his car, phones, laptops, cash, and ATM card after his demise.
The married man, who has a wife and four children, had been secretly involved with Aderonke.
However, unknown to him, she had allegedly been plotting his demise and had already prepared a “To-Do List” detailing how she would spend his wealth.
Coded To-Do List Exposes Deadly Intentions
Authorities examining the list, with the help of handwriting analysts, uncovered coded messages that pointed to a premeditated plan.
Some of the decoded phrases included:
“Get a P” – Allegedly referring to getting a poison.
“Learn how to d” – Interpreted as learning how to drive.
“Take two P & L & D” – Believed to mean taking two phones, laptops, and driving away.
“Call C to help finalise” – Suggesting possible involvement of an accomplice.
“Lodge to k” – Interpreted as checking into a hotel to carry out the act.
“Buy the p buy morning” – Indicating she planned to purchase the poison in the morning.
A suspicious mention of the word “herbalist” was also found on the list, raising concerns about whether traditional means were considered as part of the plot.
Escape by Divine Intervention
According to sources, the married man unknowingly escaped death by what has been described as divine intervention.
Details of how he discovered the poisoned drink remain unclear, but he reportedly survived without consuming it.
Law enforcement agencies are said to be investigating the matter, though it is yet to be confirmed whether Aderonke has been taken into custody.
The incident has sparked widespread reactions, with many condemning the growing trend of transactional relationships and the potential dangers involved.
It also serves as a cautionary tale about trust and the consequences of extramarital affairs.
More details are expected as investigations unfold.
