Tapswap, a popular tap-to-earn app powered by the TON Blockchain, has unveiled a new game on its platform months after failing to allocate tokens to its users.
This move follows the platform’s recent clarification that the token distribution would occur in the third quarter of the year, which commenced in July.
The Tapswap app, which has attracted significant attention in Nigeria, involves users tapping an icon on the Telegram Tapswap bot screen to mine coins.
Since its launch on February 15, 2024, the app has amassed over 50 million users, driven by the prospect of financial rewards for tapping on their phone screens.
On Tuesday, Tapswap announced the new game, “Tappy Town,” on its X (formerly Twitter) handle, providing gamers with essential tips to succeed in the virtual world. The platform encouraged players to build strategically, manage resources effectively, and maximize rewards to thrive in the game.
“Welcome to the world of Tappy Town! Here are some essential rules and tips to help you succeed,” the post read.
Tapswap emphasized the importance of upgrading buildings, managing builders, and balancing in-game resources like Blocks and Gems. Players were also advised to aim high to secure the best rewards as they build their virtual cities.
Despite the excitement surrounding the new game, Tapswap’s token allocation issues remain unresolved.
The platform had postponed the token allocation twice this year, first from an initial date in June to July 1, and then further delaying it to the third quarter with no specific date announced.
John Robbin, Tapswap’s Head of Communications, explained the postponements were necessary to ensure a fair and impactful token distribution.
He stated that the platform is in discussions with tier 1 exchanges globally to protect the game from scammers and ensure its success in the web3 industry.
The delay has left many Nigerian users, who have been diligently tapping in hopes of earning tokens, eagerly awaiting the promised rewards. Some users have even expressed aspirations of using the tokens to purchase cars and houses.
Tapswap’s management has urged its community to stay patient, promising that numerous opportunities await in the evolving tap-to-earn ecosystem.
