Popular Nigerian artiste, Tiwa Savage, recalls facing obstacles early in her career due to her wardrobe selections.
In her recent interview, she discussed transitioning from music to film and shared her experiences of being criticized for her bold fashion and sensual music.
Savage revealed facing ridicule, having her songs banned from radio, and being barred from performing due to her provocative attire.
She also highlighted that many other female artists have encountered similar challenges in the Nigerian music industry.
She said;
“They get overlooked and they can’t do soundcheck.
Tiwa Savage highlighted some of the discriminatory practices she faced. “Initially when I first moved back, I would turn up for a show and they would say I couldn’t perform because of my outfit”.
Tiwa Savage explained how she overcame these challenges to become a music sensation, emphasizing that she embraced her style and persona as a sëx symbol even more.
“I am very stubborn. So I was like my dress is just going to get shorter and my shirt is going to get more revealing,” She revealed
