Renowned Nollywood actress and philanthropist Tonto Dikeh has openly expressed her ambition to lead Rivers State as its governor.
In a recent statement, Dikeh revealed her political aspirations and plans to champion the cause of women and single mothers in the state.
“My biggest dream in life is to become the governor of Rivers State,” the actress and mother of one said.
Reflecting on her past political journey, she added, “I contested in the last election under a major political platform, but the Lord asked me to step down for Gov. Fubara.”
With her sights set on the 2027 elections, Dikeh believes she can be a strong voice for women.
“In 2027, I am coming back because the women need a voice, and I am that voice,” she declared.
Dikeh also outlined her vision for Rivers State, emphasizing the empowerment of single mothers and the provision of free sanitary pads to every girl child.
“When I become the governor, I will make sure I harness the potentials of every single mother of Rivers State into doing something good,” she pledged.
“I will make it an obligation for the Rivers State government to distribute free sanitary pads monthly to every girl child.”
Concluding with a heartfelt wish, Dikeh said, “I pray I achieve my dreams.”
The actress, who has added “King” to her name to signify her determination to break barriers, continues to inspire conversations about women’s representation in Nigerian politics.
