Chilaka Blessing, a POS operator, was closing his shop at Umuojima Junction in Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area of Abia State when he was confronted by armed robbers while heading home on his motorcycle.
The robbers, armed with guns, demanded his money and forcibly took 3 million Naira, the funds he used for his business.
They shot him in the stomach before fleeing on their bike, causing severe injuries that left his intestines exposed, leading many to believe he was dead.
He was rushed to a private hospital in Aba, where seven bullets were removed from his stomach. Since the incident, he had been unable to speak or respond as he fought for his life.
Last week, Chilaka was transferred to FMC Umuahia, where he stayed for several days before succumbing to his injuries. He passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024, after a prolonged struggle.
