Approximately 40 people are reportedly trapped under the rubble of a collapsed storey building in Sabon Lugbe, a suburban community in Abuja.
The tragic incident occurred around 5 PM on Saturday while victims were still inside the structure.
Eyewitness accounts and multiple videos circulating on social media, particularly on X, show residents urgently attempting to rescue those trapped beneath the debris.
As of this report, it remains unclear whether emergency services have arrived on the scene to assist with the rescue efforts.
Attempts to reach Nkechi Isa, the Head of Public Affairs of the FCT Emergency Management Department, for comment have been unsuccessful.
Authorities are urging residents to stay clear of the area to facilitate rescue operations.
