In a heartbreaking incident, 23-year-old star gymnast Natalie Stichova tragically lost her life after falling nearly 262 feet down Tegelberg Mountain in Bavaria, Germany, on August 15.
The accident occurred while she was reportedly attempting to take a selfie near the renowned Neuschwanstein Castle, a site that famously inspired Walt Disney’s Sleeping Beauty.
Stichova, who was visiting the scenic location during a sightseeing tour, was said to be standing perilously close to the edge of the mountain when she lost her footing.
According to a friend who spoke to Czech media, Stichova appeared to slip while setting up the shot, causing her to plunge to her death.
The exact cause of the fall remains uncertain, as her friend speculated that either she slipped or the rock edge might have given way.
Six days later, Stichova was declared dead, marking a tragic end to the young gymnast’s life.
Her untimely death has sent shockwaves through her home country of the Czech Republic, where she was well-regarded for her athletic talents.
