The Makurdi Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested two former Union Bank employees in Makurdi for allegedly misappropriating N4,199,500.00 belonging to a deceased customer.
Dele Oyewale, spokesperson for the EFCC, disclosed this in a statement to Chronicle NG.

Oyewale explained that the suspects, Idah Ogoh and Agbo Okwute, were apprehended on Friday, June 21, 2024, following a petition from the bank regarding unauthorized transactions on the account of their deceased customer, Emmanuel Azer Agenna.
“The investigation uncovered that a debit card was issued in the deceased customer’s name on May 10, 2023, by Ifah Ogoh, who was a Sales and Service Associate at the bank, with authorization from the bank on the same day. Further investigations revealed that Ogoh passed the card to another associate, Agbo Omwute, who allegedly handed it to an accomplice for the purpose of withdrawing funds from the deceased’s account. Reportedly, multiple withdrawals were made by the suspects through this accomplice,” the statement outlined.
The statement concluded that the suspects will be prosecuted once investigations are completed.
