In an unexpected turn of events, 70-year-old Tizi Hodson from Lincolnshire, UK, has received a reply to a job application she sent nearly five decades ago.
Back in 1976, Hodson applied for a position as a motorcycle stunt rider, a dream job she was passionate about. When she never heard back, she assumed the role wasn’t meant to be.
However, 48 years later, her letter was discovered behind a drawer at Staines Post Office during renovation work.
The post office staff returned the letter to Hodson, alongside a humorous note that read, “Late delivery by Staines Post Office. Found behind a drawer. Only about 50 years late.”
Hodson greeted the news with amusement, reflecting on how life had taken her down a different, but equally thrilling path.
Over the years, she built an adventurous career as a snake handler, horse whisperer, aerobatic pilot, and even a flying instructor.
Looking back, she advised her younger self to pursue everything she did in life, adding with humor, “I’ve had such a wonderful time, even if I have broken a few bones.”
Hodson, who once concealed her gender in the job application for fear it would hinder her chances, now sees the letter as a symbolic reminder of the boldness and ambition that shaped her life.
Despite missing the chance to be a stunt rider, Hodson’s adventurous spirit led her on a global journey filled with excitement, proving that dreams sometimes take shape in unexpected ways.
