The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has ordered an immediate investigation into allegations of bribery involving popular Nigerian crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky.
This follows claims made by social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, that Bobrisky bribed EFCC officials with ₦15 million to drop a money laundering case and arrange for him to serve his prison term in a private apartment rather than a standard prison.
The allegations surfaced in a now-viral video shared by VeryDarkMan, which has since garnered widespread attention on social media.
Responding to the claims, the EFCC, through its spokesperson Dele Oyewale, released a statement on Tuesday.
The anti-corruption agency announced that a special investigative team has been formed to look into the allegations.
According to the statement, both Bobrisky and VeryDarkMan have been invited to appear at the EFCC’s Lagos office to assist in the investigation.
The EFCC Chairman emphasized that the agency is dedicated to maintaining transparency and integrity throughout the investigation, and any personnel found guilty will face appropriate legal consequences.
The EFCC reassured the public that the outcome of the investigation will be made public, affirming its commitment to its core values of integrity, courage, professionalism, and collaboration.
