The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command clarified that activist VeryDarkMan was not arrested but invited for questioning.
Josephine Adeh, the command’s spokesperson, stated that VeryDarkMan was questioned on suspicions of internet stalking, cyberbullying, and character defamation.
Adeh said, “The FCT Police Command wishes to clarify that VeryDarkMan was not arrested by the police but was only invited for questioning on the allegations of cyberstalking, cyberbullying, and defamation of character.”
Activist Deji Adeyanju claimed VeryDarkMan was arrested for allegedly exposing a Nigerian who had scammed someone abroad.
The arrest was reportedly ordered by Benneth Igweh, the Police Commissioner of the FCT Command.
Deji Adeyanju said, “Our client, @thatverydarkman has just been arrested by the police on the instruction of CP Igweh for exposing someone who allegedly duped a Nigerian abroad. Instead of arresting the alleged scammer, they arrested VDM on defamation charges.”
