Veteran Nollywood actor, Chiwetalu Agu, has issued a timely and impactful piece of advice to singles contemplating marriage.
In a recent video clip shared on social media, the seasoned actor emphasized the importance of conducting thorough background checks before making the decision to marry, urging individuals not to rush into relationships due to peer pressure, desperation, or family expectations.
Agu, known for his memorable roles in numerous Nollywood films, expressed concern over the number of people who make life-altering mistakes in choosing a partner without fully understanding the individual’s true nature.
He pointed out that many relationships that seem promising at first can end in pain, regret, and even tragedy if not properly examined beforehand.
The actor’s message was direct and clear: “Marriage is not a do-or-die affair,” he declared. Agu went further to caution singles, highlighting serious red flags like abusive or toxic relationships. He emphasized that if an individual finds themselves in a harmful situation, they should prioritize their well-being and “run for your life.”
Agu urged couples to seek help if they are unhappy in their marriages, explaining that “divorce is better than rest in peace.”
He underscored the dangers of staying in unhealthy marriages for reasons like children or financial security, advising that personal safety and happiness should always come first.
“Always make sure to run a background check before proceeding to marry someone,” Agu added, concluding with a heartfelt prayer: “I pray we don’t make mistakes that will cost us our lives.”
The veteran actor’s advice has resonated with many, sparking conversations on social media about the need for careful consideration and preparation before entering into marriage.
