Afeez Adedigba, an Ibadan-based micra taxi driver, recently went viral after being seen wearing his wife’s dress while on duty.
The incident, which sparked curiosity and mixed reactions on social media, has now been clarified by Adedigba himself.
In an interview with media personality Ayo Adams on Monday, August 27th, Adedigba explained that the unusual attire was a practical solution to an unexpected problem.
On the day the viral clip was recorded, heavy rain had drenched all of his clothes. With no other options available and a determination to continue working, he turned to his wife’s clothing as a quick fix.
“This isn’t the only one of my wife’s dresses that I have used,” Adedigba admitted. “The first time it happened, it was raining heavily, and all my clothes got soaked. I had no choice but to wear hers because I still wanted to work that day. Now, I keep one of her dresses in my vehicle to wear when it rains.”
When asked about the reactions of his passengers, Adedigba remained unfazed, stating that his priority was to earn a living and provide for his family, regardless of what people might say. “None of their comments bother me. I focus on making enough money to take home and deliver to the vehicle’s owner,” he said.
Adedigba, who has been driving the micra taxi for many years, also dispelled rumors that he resorted to wearing his wife’s dress because of a fight that resulted in his clothes being torn.
He clarified that the decision was purely a practical one, driven by the need to continue working despite the weather conditions.
He concluded by mentioning his motivation for his hard work: his wife and four children, for whom he strives to meet daily needs.
