Lagos socialite Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has been re-arrested and transferred to Abuja by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The re-arrest occurred at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, where immigration officers detained Bobrisky while he was preparing to board a KLM flight to London via Amsterdam.
A senior EFCC official disclosed that Bobrisky’s arrest was due to his failure to respond to multiple invitations from the EFCC regarding serious allegations he had made against the commission.
Specifically, Bobrisky accused EFCC officials of corruption, claiming he paid N15 million in bribes to clear himself of money laundering charges.
The EFCC, however, denies these allegations, branding them as false and warning that Bobrisky could face new charges for making such claims.
The EFCC source explained, “We apprehended him in Lagos, and he will be transported to Abuja. He accused us of bribery and corruption, yet he repeatedly ignored our summons to substantiate these claims. Such serious allegations cannot be ignored.”
The source added that Bobrisky had also declined to appear before the National Assembly to provide evidence for his accusations.
As a result, the EFCC was left with no choice but to take him into custody to ensure he addresses these charges directly.
