Nollywood actress Dakore Egbuson-Akande has opened up about her surprising transition from music to acting.
Known for her song “Don’t Make Me,” Dakore began her career as a musician, a path she thought would define her professional life.
In a recent interview, Dakore revealed, “I started out as a musician. Some people don’t know that. I actually never even knew that I could act to be honest.”
She had envisioned herself performing on stage, focusing on music, but discovered her talent for acting unexpectedly.
Despite her initial plans to pursue music and journalism—her choice of study in Mass Communication—Dakore’s journey took an unexpected turn.
She described her shift to acting as a “wonderful surprise” and attributed her career path to her knack for performance and expression from a young age.
Reflecting on the challenges she faced, Dakore shared, “There was a lot of resistance from some of my close family and acquaintances who felt entertainment was not a sustainable career path.”
Despite this, she remained determined to follow her passion.
Now, as a celebrated actress and a pioneer in the entertainment industry, Dakore feels vindicated.
She is grateful for the opportunity to be part of changing the perception of entertainment as a viable career option and is proud of her journey from music to becoming a household name in Nollywood.
