Nigerian rapper and actor Remilekun Khalid Safaru, popularly known as Reminisce, has stirred controversy with his recent comments on relationships.
During an appearance on the podcast “I Said What I Said,” hosted by FK and Jola, Reminisce asserted that no matter how much a man provides in a relationship, women will always find a reason to complain.
“Women will never be satisfied. If you provide and over-provide, they will still complain. If you give too much time, they’ll think something’s off… you just have to strike a balance,” Reminisce said, sparking debate over his views on gender dynamics.
Despite his controversial comments, Reminisce emphasized the traditional values instilled in him regarding the care of women, particularly within his family.
He explained that he believes it is his duty to provide for his wife, a principle passed down from his father and grandfather.
“The way I run my home is, if my wife needs money to buy something, I’ll give it to her. Even if she spends it all, I gave her the money. That’s how I was raised,” he shared.
The rapper also spoke about the challenges of balancing his career with his family life, revealing that his demanding schedule has left little time for his wife.
“Last year was the first time in 11 years I went out with my wife, and it wasn’t for a family occasion. There’s no time – I’m always busy providing for the family.”
Reminisce concluded by acknowledging that his traditional views may not align with contemporary ideals of shared responsibility in relationships, but he remains committed to his approach, rooted in personal beliefs rather than societal expectations.
His comments have sparked discussions on social media, with many questioning the expectations placed on both men and women in relationships today.
