Oluchi Nzemechi, a 27-year-old from Ikeduru Local Government Area in Imo State, is in police custody for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend, Kelechi Nzemechi, to death.
The incident reportedly stemmed from a dispute over how to divide the proceeds from their internet fraud activities, commonly known as “Yahoo Yahoo.”
According to Police Public Relations Officer ASP Henry Okoye, Oluchi confessed to the crime.
She disclosed that her boyfriend had introduced her to cybercrime, and together they defrauded an Indonesian of 250 million rupiah.
Their argument over the distribution of the money led to her stabbing him with a kitchen knife.
After realizing he was dead, she wrote a threatening message on a piece of paper and left it on his body before fleeing.
The message read, “You think you can eat my money and go free? I am baba for the boys. I am coming for your wife and your child, including your family.”
The police also revealed that Oluchi had been living with Kelechi since 2019 and had a child with him.
Authorities are working to recover the stolen 250 million rupiah. Oluchi is currently being investigated at the State Criminal Investigation Department and will be charged to court soon.
